KBS RustSeal is designed to give rusted and porous metal surfaces a second chance, curing to a smooth silver finish, diamond-hard finish. This high-solids, single-component urethane coating flows into surface imperfections and existing corrosion, then uses atmospheric moisture to cure into a durable, tightly bonded protective finish. As Step 3 in the KBS Coatings 3-Step Total Rust Eradication System, this 1-Litre solution is suitable for restoration, maintenance and repair applications, it helps seal in existing rust while protecting prepared metal from further corrosion.
Key Features
- Deep rust encapsulation: RustSeal has a low initial viscosity that allows it to wet and penetrate into the pores of rust and corrosion. As it moisture-cures, the coating expands and interlocks within the surface profile to create a strong, integrated protective barrier.
- High-solids protective coating: With more than 70% solids content, RustSeal forms a substantial coating film that seals rust, porous metal and other prepared surfaces. It is formulated to help prevent further corrosion development when applied correctly.
- Durable yet flexible finish: Delivers high resistance to abrasion and chemicals while retaining flexibility to accommodate normal expansion and contraction of the coated component. It also withstands temperatures of up to 316°C.
- Simple, ready-to-use application: This single-component formula requires no complicated mixing and is self-levelling for a smoother finish. It can be applied by brush, roller or spray, making it suitable for a variety of workshop and restoration jobs.
- Topcoat-compatible and UV stable: RustSeal is compatible with paint systems and can be top-coated to achieve the preferred final colour and finish. While it has moderate UV stability, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause dulling or fading, so top-coating is recommended for exterior applications.
KBS RustSeal can provide strong protection when applied over suitably prepared rusty surfaces, but the best long-term outcome is achieved as part of the KBS Coatings 3-Step Total Rust Eradication System.
